Wildlife and conservation enthusiasts,
The Utah Chukar & Wildlife Foundation (UCWF) was created in February of 2004. The UCWF is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization focused on improving chukar and other upland game populations, habitat, and hunting on Utah's public lands.
The UCWF is an active participant in wildlife legislature, Utah's upland game laws, the Utah Upland Advisory Council, volunteer projects, fund raising, guzzler and water development, wildlife education, habitat improvement, and more.
We are making a difference and with sustained support we will continue to make a difference for upland game in Utah. Become a member today!
Greetings,
After running all the numbers and covering all the expenses we have our net from this year's banquet. We had by far our best banquet raising just under $19K which we will use to partner with projects and other funds that will benefit upland game as well as other wildlife on Utah's public lands! Please feel free to suggest projects and/or voice your opinions to the board of the UCWF. THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
I have added all the email addresses and mailing addresses from the banquet to our database, but I know we don't have everyone. If you, or someone you now, is not getting the newsletter and attended the banquet or sent in your yearly dues, please let me know. The first newsletter for this year should arrive by the first of May.
It is amazing what we are able to do with $10K, a dedicated volunteer group, and a respected voice representing outstanding sportsmen/women. We are never moving as fast as we’d like and things aren’t ever perfect, but great things happen as we put one foot in front of the other and press on! By joining forces with other groups and using our funds to help support quality UDWR habitat council projects we are able to participate in many projects and provide a strong voice for upland game projects in the state. Some quality upland projects we have supported this year include: planting of trees and shrubs for quail in the Northeastern region, guzzlers in the Northern region, sage grouse studies and habitat improvement, fencing/preserving tree rows, Southern guzzlers, chukar transplant survivability study, and the ongoing guzzler studies.
The UCWF pledges to make sure your voice is heard and ensure that monies dedicated to Utah’s upland game are used in the best possible way. My deepest thanks to the UCWF board, members, donors and volunteers who do so much to make good things happen for Utah’s upland game! Please support our donors first!
Accomplishment Highlights for 2011:
- We succeeded in partnering to install 5 guzzlers in the northern region this year! Other guzzlers were installed in the Southern region with habitat council funding.
- We provided funding for new sage grouse habitat biologists in the state.
- We helped with sharp-tailed grouse and sage grouse counts/studies.
- We supported the chukar study and hope for it to continue into future years.
- We provided feedback for the use of state upland monies in many quality projects.
- We provided volunteer support and helped raise funds for a Curlew National Grasslands upland project.
- We wrote letters of support and disagreement from the board dealing with upland game and wildlife issues within the state/nation.
- We worked hard to be a voice for upland game advocates in Utah.

• To become a powerful united voice for Utah’s upland hunters.
• To generate funding for Utah’s upland game that will stay in Utah.
• To provide information and man-power for upland projects.
• To influence legislation.
• To improve and utilize wildlife habitat.
• To preserve/enhance upland hunting for the future.
• To increase guzzlers and water developments in Utah (the second driest state in the U.S.)
